Jaromír Honzák – Face of BASS

Jaromír Honzák - double bass
Michal Nejtek - keyboards, samples
Marcel Bárta - bass clarinet, soprano saxophone
Marek Urbánek - drums

The band was born in 2006 as a trio with Beata Hlavenková at the keyboards. The idea was to dissmis any style restrictions and programmatically open inspiration without prejudice towards completely different genres. Later Beata left the band in favor to her own projects and Michal Nejtek took her place. At the same time the band becomes a quartet, to confirm the change in the sound. The musical direction remains, though: The musicians are not hiding their fondness for electronics, drum&bass, Eric Dolphy or ABBA: the beauty in music is not style-dependent.

Original music composed by the members of the group. Antenna tuned to receive waves from both outer and inner space. An unveiled face...

The music of the trio is soaked in jazz tradition, nonetheless these jazzmen are not afraid to draw their inspirations from classical or ethnic music. In their compositions we can easily distinguish strong beats, jazz groove, beautiful and lyrical motifs as well as expressive improvisations. A unique blend of lightness and creative approach to musical styles. Interesting arrangements, changes of tones, skillful passages through a variety of musical genres, combined with many literary references makes for an incredible ambience; performed themes are merely a pretext for far-reaching musical exploration.

Renaud Garcia-Fons – Solo

Renaud Garcia-Fons – Five strings double bass

In this SOLO, Renaud Garcia-Fons sings a beautiful love song for his instrument by drawing inspiration from the music that comprises his world of ten recordings, coming from other times (Marcevol, Hacia Compostella) and other places around the vast Mediterranean (Jeyhounabad, Kalimbass).

Alone with his instrument (and some loops made only with bass sounds), he pushes the boundaries of an already immense technique, and unfolds a song of breathtaking beauty.

Renaud Garcia-Fons, avoiding a fall into the trap of virtuosity, our man has created a tour de force in building a world of musical. Strokes both bold and fine, and lyrically warm.
